This is where I am !
This is the view of one of the main squares in Quillan as you come across the bridge near the “C” on the map.
On the left near corner is the English Library. To the left is a café and area used for outside seating (when its not raining !)
Directly opposite is the L’Alhumetur – originally the shop that made all the matchsticks for the town. And the story goes that the owner continued to make matchsticks illegally after the practice was nationalised, and was imprisoned because of it. Today the shop is run by his daughter
In the top left of the square is the Café du Fleuve (red seats outside) which is run by two gentlemen – and is D on my map.
And here is the Rue Felix Arnaud, my local Methodist church (at the end of my Rue and open on Mondays for worship) and the Cinema (F on the map). I’ve been told the cinema seats about 250 and has something on 2-3 times a week.
Shops – the Spar, the pub, the boucherie, and the Boulangerie.
The right hand side is the main promenade – this is where the majority of the Saturday market takes place.
Not all the houses in town are top quality
